The province of Chiriqui is found in the western part of Panama towards the border with Costa Rica and south with the Pacific Ocean. This is a destination with great natural attractions and a variety of options for water sports. The province has several and very good options for sports fishing.
 
 
The province of Chiriqui has several sites for sports fishing:

Chiriqui River:
This river is located close to the city of David towards the School of Agriculture, via Pan American Highway to Panama. To go fishing we recommend sunset when the doors to the hydroelectric center is opened. At this time abundant species and fresh water fish enter the area.


Boca Chica:
Located in the Pacific district of San Lorenzo, serves as the site of the Anual Yamaha Boca Chica Fishing Tournament. Among the species are seabass, red snappers, among others.

Puerto Pedregal:
Located in the district of Pedregal south of the city of David on the way to the airport. This port is the starting point of the excursions that are directed to the islands inthe Gulf of Chiriqui. Among some of the species are red snapper, snooks, sardines and many others.

Rivers in Cerro Punta and Volcán:
A series of rivers located along the Varú Volcano and Cerro Punta north of the city of David, provincial capital. The most abundant species is trout.

Estero Rico:
It is found almost two hours and a half of the city of David, through the Inter American Highway via Bugaba to the Escarria River. Among the species found in the area are red snapper, snook and sardines.

Armuelles Port:
Located to the south of Chiriqui in the Barú district.

Chiriqui Gula National Marine Park (Paridas Islands):
With an extension of 14 740 hectares, Marine Park protects a part of the gulf coast and the Secas and Paridas islands, with a great diversity of marine life, variety of species and where it is possible to observe (in season) large marine creatures like hunched back whales, orcas, manta rays and a large amount of dolphines.
