Pedasí is a good option for sports fishing lovers. Pedasí is a district in the province of Los Santos in the Azuero Peninsula. Begin the trip on road from Panama City by the Pan American Highway to Las Tablas the provincial capital and from tehre to the coast of Pedasí.
This is a fishing town with an area of some 60 kilometers of coast and two island formations:
Isla Iguana y Los Frailes.
The area is easily accesible from Las Tablas to the Mariabé or El Arenal located in the district of Pedasí. There you will board a boat which will take you 8 or 10 kilometers from the coast to Isla Iguana or Los Frailes or to the surrounding the coast. You can divide your fishing in: inshore fishing and offshore fishing.

Main fishing sites:
It is difficult to find several speciments of red snappers in Isla Los Frailes, close to Isla Iguana and 30 minutes from Punta Mala.
Main species:
There are a number of species as bullet tuna: You will find a type of red snapper species and wreckfish as well as seabass; swordfish, yellow tailed tuna, dorados, sail fish, black and blue merlin among others.
Fishing techniques:
Deep water fishing, offshore fishing, jigging, and trolling. Since there are so many types of fishing, these techniques are almost always the same and normally used is the offshore fishing in Panama´s Pacific.
Facilities:
To rent a boat you must make a request to the fishermen a day in advance as well as the fishing gear. There is single lodging in Pedasí. Another option can me made in the provincial capital, Las Tablas.
Season:
The best season is from May to November, and peaks depending on the different species. For example, wahoo in October; dorado June and July; tuna August to October; merlin March to July. We recommend to get advise on the season from a guide as weather conditions vary.
