Iguana Island, a paradise you can discover.
Iguana island located 320 kilometers southwest of Panama City in the Pedasí District, province of Los Santos, just 7 kilometers from the coast of Azuero Penninsula. The island is an extraordinary protected natural area declared a Wildlife Reserve in 1980 and has 53 hectares. Its name is due to the large amounts of green and black iguanas that live on the island and its an area of white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. When the south winds are calm, you can carry out excellent immersions in parts of the island that face the open sea where its normal to find large animals in addition to different coral species.
Iguana has a 16 hectare coral reef with a diversity of native coral reefs located in the Pacific side of Panama, the largest in the Gulf of Panama with some 4,800 years of existance and approximately 542 fish species in addition to abundant Carey tortoises. If you are curious and love adventure, snorkelling will help you find marine biodiversity and if you are lucky you may see whales and dolphines which visit the area frequently.
