  Bocas del Toro IslandsArchipelago in the Atlantic Coast that includes the country´s first marine park.

Beautiful archipelago in the Atlantic Coast. You can reach the spot by road through Chiriqui and on a flight from Panama City. Among the most outstanding islands in the archipelago are: Bastimentos Island, San Cristobal Island, Colon Island, Popa Island, etc. The most impressive of them is Bastimento Island where the first marine park was created in the country, located in several sites of the archipelago.

The Bastimentos Marine Park constitutes a natural reserve of incredible richness that are made up by coral reefs, large extensions of mangroves, white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters from the Bastimentos Island and small islets that surrounds the area to the Zapatillas Keys located to the southeast. The park is a refuge to abundant marine life, bird, reptiles and other animals. The Zapatillas Keys, are two small uninhabitated almost virgen islands with incredible forests surrounded by a coral platform and beautiful beaches complemented with a very active marine life.

Recommended Diving Sites: Punta Hospital, Ola Chica, Coral Islands (the islets with neighboring coral to the Zapatilla Keys. It is possible to visit the remains of a sunken ship and a series of underwater caves behind the Zapatilla Keys when the sea is calm as well as rocky formations with a vertical fall behind the Bastimentos Island.

Description: Many of the diving and snorkel sites are found in coral reefs accessible during the whole year, usually no more than 15 minutes from the city of Bocas del Toro. In Punta Hospital, you will find a 35 foot wall, caves in Zapatilla Keys and some 40 feet deep a diver must use underwater lighting; Ola Chica, shallow diving where you cross through a formation of volcanic rocks and small drops: simple enough for first time divers due to the available natural light and shallow waters.

Diving Types: Coral, Walls, Sunken Ship and Night.
