 The town of Bastimentos takes up a part of an island of the same name. The island has an excellent and a variety of tourism infrastructure as well as transportaton, speedboat rental, diving equipment and other facilities.
The island has the entrance of the Chiriquí Lagoon which is not a lagoon in itself, but a natural bay and one of the country´s most important and impressive and known by the indigenous community as Aburema.
You may find places of interest in Playa Larga like excellent wide golden sand beaches, swim in peaceful clear waters, water skiing, snorkeling, sailing, beach sports among other activities.
Bastimentos has the attraction of having a group of massive coral reefs, considered the most extreme and spectacular of Panama´s Atlantic coast and where you can easily explore the bottom of the Caribbean Sea. It is also an ideal place for underwater diving making the area oneof the favorits for such activity.
The island belongs to the Bastimentos National Marine Park, located in several points of the Bocas del Toro Archipelago. It is a natural reserve with incredible richness which includes Bastimentos island and the smaller islets that surround it and Zapatillas Keys located towards the southeast. The park is a refuge of abundant marine life, birds, reptiles and other animals.
From Bastimentos island you can board a speedboat and tour beaches and adjacent islands. Dont worry about time, in only one day you can visit and enjoy this wonderful destination.
